KIV is aware that only a strong research and development together with an innovative approach to the market can yield long-term results and assure company’s future existence on a very competitive EU market. Our past actions confirm this as we have been able to conform with all international standards and certificates, while at the same time add a little bit to the “world’s treasury of knowledge” through patents and published papers.

KIV R&D Team

Company has formed the KIV R&D team consisting of the best engineers inside and outside the company, each covering individual segments of the technology that we supply. The main objective of the team is to work on challenges set up by the market, including but not limited to:

  • Energy and cost optimization of the existing systems
  • Increasing efficiency of the existing and planned projects according to the requirements of the individual market (CHP requirements, individual national subsidy requirements, individual investor’s requirements, ...)
  • Technology improvements and optimizations in order to meet specific national requirements such as:
    • Waste Framework Directive – WFD,
    • Waste Incineration Directive – WID,
    • UK’s Renewable Obligation requirements – ROC,
    • EU Combined Heat & Power requirements – CHP.
  • Research and development of cutting-edge technologies in the field of biomass and waste gasification systems
  • To follow R&D development of advanced technologies across the world with a purpose of implementing them in the existing systems
  • Preparing patent applications.

Technology Centre

KIV has also established a Technology Centre with a purpose to stimulate innovation and technological advancement in the field of energy generation and utilization, which makes it strongly involved in local and national development of renewable technologies. Our technology centre includes:

  • Biomass and Waste to Energy pilot plants for fuel testing
  • Facility for experimental research work on advanced technologies
  • Laboratory for solar panel and solar hot water technologies
  • Local, village-size, district heating system
  • Educational, training and teaching facilities
